On May 30, 2019, ANAB granted the Vermont Forensic Laboratory's accreditation in the Fields of Forensic Calibration and Forensic Testing. The decision was based upon the documentation provided in the assessment report and in accordance with the recommendation of the Lead Assessor. ANAB was satisfied that the VFL met or exceeded the requirements for accreditation as set forth in the following: ISO/IEC 17025:2017, ANAB 17025:2107 Forensic Science Testing and Calibration Laboratories Accreditation Requirements, FBI Quality Assurance Standards for Forensic DNA Testing Laboratories:2011, and FBI Quality Assurance Standards for DNA Database Laboratories:2011. The assessment and accreditation process also considered conformance with the laboratory’s own documented management system.
The Vermont Forensic Laboratory was accredited on May 30, 2019, in the Fields of Forensic Calibration and Testing. The accreditation is for a period of four (4) years, ending on September 30, 2023.
Accreditation is granted only after a thorough evaluation of the laboratory’s management system and technical procedures and practices. Accreditation is the result of an extensive commitment of resources and much preparation by the management and personnel of the entire program. The efforts of all employees involved in this achievement must be commended.
